The Division of Surgical Oncology has a long-standing commitment to excellence in research, education and patient care. As among the most recognized Divisions of Surgical Oncology in the country, the faculty members have broad clinical and research interests. The strength of the commitment to outstanding academic achievement is reflected in the three endowed professorships in this division.

The Division of Surgical Oncology's mission is to improve the care of patients with cancer by providing the very best surgical care. The Division's surgeons do this by taking a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. Investigators in the Division have sought to generate new knowledge through innovative basic science, translational and clinical research.

Furthermore, the Division of Surgical Oncology is at the forefront of new treatments and technologies for cancer patients. The Division is committed to a program of life-long learning that starts with students and residents and extends to educational programs that teach new concepts and skills to practicing physicians. Our close collaborations with the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, University of Louisville Hospital, Jewish Hospital and Norton Cancer Care have allowed the Division of Surgical Oncology faculty members to achieve national and international prominence while striving to improve the care of patients with cancer.
